The original iPad was released on April 3, 2010. It included many of the same features as the iPhone and iPod Touch, including the 3-axis accelerometer that enables the device to detect when it is being moved or tilted. The iPad was powered by the same operating system as the iPhone, allowing it to run the same apps in compatibility mode. It also had unique user interface elements that made use of the larger screen. The day before its official release, Netfix announced it would be supporting the tablet with a streaming app built from the ground up for the iPad.
